Newcomer WCS Jack & Jill:
Open to WCS dancers who have never competed or have less than 5 Novice points in the WSDC registry.
Novice WCS Jack & Jill:
Open to WCS dancers who have less than 20 Novice points in the WSDC registry.
Intermediate WCS Jack & Jill:
Open to WCS dancers who have earned 20 or more Novice points in the WSDC registry.
Advanced WCS Jack & Jill:
Open to dancers who have 20 or more Intermediate points in the WSDC registry.
All Star WCS Jack & Jill:
Open to dancers who have 40 or more Advanced points in the WSDC registry.
Strictly Swing Competitions:
Swing dancing that encourages lead and follow partner dancing at its best. Although swing includes amalgamations and patterns that are familiar to many dancers, the essence of lead and follow must be maintained in and out of these patterns. Strictly Swing division is not meant for long and extended pre-choreographed phrases. Choreography "on the fly" is the objective. Drops, leans, circular movements and other partner weight support moves are ALLOWED FOR CHAMPIONS-ADVANCED/ALL STARS-INTERMEDIATE DANCERS ONLY as long as both partners keep at least one foot on the floor.
- Length of performance is at the promoter's discretion.
- Costumes are not allowed. However, matching or complementary outfits suitable for social dancing are acceptable
- This division will be danced in heats and/or spotlight at the promoter's discretion.
- Couples must maintain physical contact except for spins, turns, short break-a-ways, and recoveries.
- Pre-choreographed routines are not allowed.
- Dancers must maintain their own physical contact with the floor during partner weight support moves.
- At most five partner weight support moves are permitted.
Novice Strictly Swing:
Dancers will choose a partner: one male and one female. The DJs will pick the music. No lifts, drops, aerials or choreographed routines allowed. The division is open to dancers who are not eligible for Intermediate or higher Jack & Jill. Intermediate, Advanced/All Star dancers may not "dance down" in this division.
Intermediate Strictly Swing:
Dancers will choose a partner: one male and one female. The DJs will pick the music. No lifts, aerials or choreographed routines allowed. The division is open to dancers who are not eligible for Advanced or higher Jack & Jill. Advanced/All Star dancers may not "dance down" in this division. An Intermediate dancer may "dance up" in the Advanced/All Star division if he/she is partnered with an Advanced/All Star dancer.
Advanced Strictly Swing:
Dancers will choose a partner: one male and one female. The DJs will pick the music. No lifts, aerials or choreographed routines allowed. The division is open to dancers who are eligible for Advanced Jack & Jill. A Newcomer/ Novice or Intermediate dancer may "dance up" in the Advanced if he/she is partnered with an Advanced dancer.
All Star Strictly Swing:
Dancers will choose a partner: one male and one female. The DJs will pick the music. No lifts, aerials or choreographed routines allowed. The division is open to dancers who are eligible for All Star Jack & Jill. A Newcomer/ Novice / Intermediate or Advanced dancer may "dance up" in the All Star division if he/she is partnered with an All Star dancer.
Rising Star Routine:
This division is offered for "new to competition" couples that do not choose to dance with the experienced competitive couples. Couples dance a choreographed routine to their own choice of music (3 minutes maximum length). Lifts and drops are allowed but not required. This division will host all forms of swing. Dancers that have placed 5th or higher at a N.A.S.D.E. Classic or Showcase event are not eligible. Dancers that have won a Rising Star Division three times or more are not eligible.
Pro-Am Routines:
Teachers/Students dance a choreographed routine. Students should be Novice or Intermediate level dancers. This division is open to West Coast, Lindy Hop, Hustle and Two Step. Routines should be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3. Lifts, drops and aerials are allowed. |
